Meet The Team


Richard has more than 20 years’ bands and brands experience. He instigated his first record campaign (and first no. 1) whilst brand manager at Coca-Cola. From there he moved into the record industry to a marketing post at Sony, working with catalogue and front-line releases from the Clash to The Rolling Stones. He was then head-hunted by EastWest / Atlantic to run the marketing department, where he looked after key UK artists including Simply Red and Paul Oakenfold, and the entire US roster – from AC/DC to Snoop Dogg. From there he moved to EMI/Chrysalis as Marketing Director overseeing the launch of Robbie Williams’ solo career, and then 5 years as Head of Marketing at V2. The V2 years saw gold and platinum album campaigns for Stereophonics, Underworld, Paul Weller, Liberty X, and Elbow, plus an insight into the workings of the Branson empire. Richard moved on to lead the music marketing team at media giant Emap before setting up his own marketing company anothermusic in 2006 and then joining with David to form Autonomy in 2007. Richard was also a founding DJ and investor for London’s pioneering alternative radio station XFM. He is also a visiting lecturer in Music Business Studies for Newcastle College, The University of East London, and London Metropolitan University.


David’s marketing background spans 20 years. David began his career as an intern at James Grant Management in 1993. Later that year David made the move to Chrysalis as Product and Label Manager on the Curb / Hit Label, working on frontline and back catalogue. 1995 saw an internal change to the newly established, Chrysalis-owned Echo Label where David rose to the position of Marketing Director and looked after the careers of Feeder, Moloko, Ray Lamontagne, Nerina Pallot and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club amongst others.David and Richard first worked together on the hugely successful compilation series ACOUSTIC while still being respective Marketing Directors at Echo and V2. Vicious Music was set up in 2006, which expanded upon the operation and experience generated via their solo marketing ventures. 2008 saw the expansion of the team and company when Autonomy Music Group was formed with the addition of a recorded, management and publishing and sync division. In 2010 alongside Richard, David became a co-owner of the Communion Music Group.


Jack is a partner of autonomy.digital alongside his role as product manager at Autonomy Music Group who works on a whole host of campaigns to bring them to life and maximise their output. Jack works alongside Autonomy Management’s eclectic roster closely by bringing his experience in strategy, guidance and marketing expertise to the table. After studying for a Music Business & Innovation degree at the Academy of Contemporary Music, Jack set up a consultancy agency specialising within the entertainment industry working with brands, labels and artists to bring campaigns and launches to fruition.


James began managing bands alongside his studies at The Academy of Contemporary Music where he achieved a first-class honours degree in Music Business & Innovation, focusing his dissertation thesis on the digital music landscape. Whilst at university, James’s management and artist development lead him to win a “young management’ award at a Metropolis Studios showcase. James interned at Gabrielle Aplin’s record label and management company Never Fade Records before entering into Autonomy as a Product Manager. In 2017 he launched autonomy.digital alongside fellow Product manager Jack, and Autonomy Partners Richard and David.


Graduating with a First from The Institute of Contemporary Musical Performance, Kate is a Campaign Assistant across Autonomy and autonomy.digital. Having managed her own artist projects, Kate balances both the industry and creative worlds of music. Her expertise lie within building campaigns that fully represents the message a creative wants to perceive within their artistry. Whilst at university, Kate focused her dissertation on social media traits, collecting data from Twitter, instagram and Facebook to discover patterns within the online world and develop an understanding on how it operates. At Autonomy, Kate’s focus is to contribute to interpreting our creative’s artistic vision whilst operating their digital campaigns.
